The Brockton Police Junior Cadets spend a week of training during the summer with the men and women of the Brockton
Police Department. There are two sessions—one in June and the other in August.

The kids learn about radar and traffic enforcement from our Traffic Enforcement & Control Unit Officers.

By the end of the week, these 14-16 year-olds will have studied criminal law and learned first aid/CPR, bike safety, leadership, nutrition, and basic personal finance.

A Boston field trip with the Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit is usually planned before the program ends. A Red Sox game at Fenway Park is also on the schedule. We thank Officer Derek Salamone and the Brockton Police Community Education Unit for coordinating the Junior Cadet Program.
