The Shannon Community Safety Initiative (CSI)
The Shannon Community Safety Initiative (CSI) is a multi‐pronged approach to address a community’s gang and youth violence problem through coordinated prevention and intervention, law enforcement, prosecution, and reintegration programs using five strategy areas:
- Social Intervention
- Suppression
- Opportunity Provision
- Organizational Change
- Community Mobilization
Only 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organizations are eligible for Brockton Shannon Project funding, and the grants committee would especially love to see grassroots organizations apply. Any project that fits at least one of the gang and youth violence prevention strategies listed above is welcome, but the grants committee is especially interested in small programs with an educational slant and those that address substance use, either of the youth themselves or that of their parents/guardians. All proposed programming should be inclusive and trauma‐informed and should provide direct, concrete services to youth.
