Happy Halloween
From The Spirits at
Brockton PD

To help you have a
spooky, fun, and safe   halloween

Here are some Safety Tips

    1. Try to Trick-or-Treat when it is still light outside

    2. Wear a costume that makes it easier to walk, see
         and be seen

    3. If you must go at night, make sure your costume is
         light in color

    4. Carry a flashlight with you so you can be seen easily

    5. Use retro-reflective tape on your costume to be seen
         easily

    6. Use makeup instead on a mask

    7. If someone older cannot go with you, Trick-or-Treat
        with a group

    8. Cross the street only at corners. Never cross between
         parked vehicles or mid-block

    9. Tell your family on which streets you will be
         Trick-or-Treating

   10. If there are no sidewalks, always walk facing traffic

   11. Stay in your own neighborhood

   12. Be respectful of others

   13. Have your parents check your treats before you eat them

Parents
    1. Welcome Trick-or-Treaters at home by turning on your
         exterior lights

    2. Remove objects from your yard that might present a
         hazard to visitors

    3. Ask your neighborhood watch or citizens group to patrol
         the community

    4. Trick-or-Treaters cross busy streets and watch out for
        ghoulish behavior

    5. Drive slowly all evening - you never know what creatures
        may suddenly cross your path

    6. Report any suspicious or criminal activity to your local
         police department

Consider this: Parents and kids can avoid Trick-or-Treating problems entirely by organizing a Halloween costume party with treats, games, contests, music, scary stories, and much more.
