Application
The Brockton Area Trial Courts,
the Office of the Plymouth County District Attorney
and the Brockton Community Policing Leadership Council
announce that the 9th Session of the
Plymouth County Citizens’ Trial Court Academy will
start Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Applications for
participants are available and are due back by Friday,
March 29, 2008.
The purpose of the Academy
is to give citizens an opportunity to learn about the
operations of the various Trial Court Departments. It
is also an opportunity for the Courts to establish a
dialogue with members of the public and to hear about
community expectations and perceptions.
The Academy is an eight
week program, one Wednesday evening per week from 7
to 9:15 PM. A session is devoted to each of the
Trial Courts: District, Juvenile, Probate and Family,
Housing and Superior Courts. In addition, sessions
cover probation services, a visit to the Plymouth
County Correctional Facility and a mock trial and
graduation. Most of the sessions are convened in the
George N. Covett Trial Court Building, 215 Main
Street, Brockton.
There is no cost to the
participants. All residents of Plymouth County are
welcome to apply. Class size will be limited to 40.
Presentations are made by Judges, Magistrates,
Probation Officers, Court Officers, attorneys and
representatives from the District Attorney’s Office,
and the Sheriff’s Department.
