The Brockton Police Department takes child safety seriously. It is our goal to provide parents and caregivers useful information on safely restraining their children , to encourage the correct use of child restraints, and to ensure optimal protection by child restraint systems.
Child seats are the most effective restraint system available. Rear-facing infant seats reduce the risk of fatal injury in a car crash by 71 percent, forward-facing safety seats for toddlers reduce the fatality risk by 54 percent, and safety belts reduce fatalities by 45 percent. However, a child restraint system must be properly used to provide optimum protection. The safest child restraint systems available can prevent death and injury only if they are purchased and used correctly.
